a16z · Your Data Agents Need Context
Jason Cui and Jennifer Li, March 10, 2026. A context layer of business logic, canonical entities and governance knowledge helps agents reason across enterprise sources. Context is not a substitute for execution permissions.
Reliable enterprise context requires continuous data cleaning, structuring, validation and governance. Agent-native infrastructure also needs coordination and policy enforcement across parallel execution. This is thematic alignment, not venture endorsement.
Fall 2026 themes include Multiplayer AI, A Cloud for Small Software, physical-world opportunities and The Primer’s vision for learning and wisdom. These are thematic connections—not a solicitation, selection or endorsement of this venture. Reviewed October 9, 2026; the live RFS may change.
OpenShell’s supervisor middleware operates after network policy evaluation and before provider credential injection. We propose exploring inspection, contextual review and audit functionality as a complement to independent runtime controls. No working integration, partnership or endorsement is claimed. Technical validation is pending.
AgentCore describes policy controls that govern agent tool actions. This demonstrates an existing competitive category: runtime policy and accountable agent execution are not an exclusive invention of The Consciousness.
NVIDIA OpenShell, Prisma AIRS Agent Security, Credo AI Agent Governor and Open Policy Agent document runtime or policy controls. Credo’s enterprise-intent and pre-action harness approach closely overlaps our thesis. Research preview / Beta; Claude Code live per vendor, with custom policy creation/upload and other harnesses coming soon at review. These are vendor descriptions, not independent tests. Review date: 9 October 2026.
The OWASP GenAI Security Project’s Top 10 for Agentic Applications identifies risks and mitigations for agentic systems, including goal hijacking, identity abuse and human trust manipulation. Our proposed controls require testing against relevant risks; this source does not certify their effectiveness.
Doctoral thesis in Management, University of Technology Jaipur, November 2025: relevant printed pp. 55–92, 127 and 281–283. The Penta Bottomline research explores philosophical and organizational principles, with limitations. CAI summary: undated, pp. 1–3. These inform product interpretation; application to AI is not empirically validated. The public citation portal provides research context and licensed teaching references. No private PDFs or manuscripts are linked or rehosted.
Inherited wisdom & philosophy: a source of human principles, interpretation and questions—not scientific validation of spiritual teachings.
Proposed product interpretation: NextGenTM adaptations that translate those principles into review criteria, policy boundaries and escalation paths.
Measurable engineering outcomes: effectiveness that must be established through test cases, benchmarks, runtime integration tests and observed outcomes. The demonstrations on this site are deterministic simulations, not proof of live detection or guaranteed safety.
